Mezzaluna is an event catering business based in Dundee with a specific focus on bringing Italian and Mediterranean cuisine to weddings and large parties. We are a mobile caterer - you’ll most likely find us popping up at some of the most stunning, rustic DIY venues in Scotland which go hand in hand with our relaxed, sharing-style approach to food service.

Found most always with a cup of tea in hand, Chiara is a list making addict, the owner of a serious collection of cook books, a self-taught ace at reversing big trailers, and won’t leave a coffee shop without buying cake for later. She is a soon to be Mum, blessed with natural local beauty on her doorstep, currently craving salty rimmed margaritas, a supporter of local business, the owner of Mezzaluna Events and Catering and the person you will come in to contact with most throughout your food planning journey. Chiara is a home cook, taught by her Mum and Grandparents – cooking reminds her of being with family, the happiest times of her life. 


Her ideal wedding meal would be a bruschetta bar during the reception, grazing boards spread across the table piled high with local meats, cheeses and seasonal vegetables, Melanzane Parmiggiano all round. Trays of tiramisu and a shot of Limoncello to finish.


The story behind the brand of Mezzaluna

Chiara comes from a large Italian family and is particularly inspired by her Grandad Mario who is undoubtedly the best self-taught cook she knows. Mario immigrated from Cassino, Italy in the 1950s and found himself in sunny Dundee where he learnt to cook for himself – cucina povera style! Using the seasonal vegetables from his garden, tomato conserve imported from his family farm in Italy, the best quality pasta and butcher’s meats he can create a stellar meal out of anything that comes to hand. 


When Chiara’s parents got married, alongside Mario they made trays of lasagne for the wedding meal, enough to feed almost 200 guests! Chiara proposed the idea of doing this for her own wedding in 2018 which was met with a “No way, never again!”.

Struggling to find a caterer in Scotland who could provide authentic, wholesome, family-style Italian food – Mezzaluna was born. Chiara loves food, people and well – love itself – so much so that she knew her calling was to bring generations of home cooking to the catering scene, to showcase the simple beauty that is Italian and Mediterranean food. 


Chiara loves getting to know her couples and clients on a personal level to really get a sense of what they are looking for. Every event is unique, and this is what makes our job so exciting! We like to think that our service goes beyond catering. We provide advice where we can and love bouncing around ideas to help you create a magical day.
